Body Bullying

(18)

In 2009, a beautiful and healthy Jessica Simpson, came under immense scrutiny from the media for gaining ten pounds from her previously miniscule figure-as highlighted by the film Dukes of Hazzard-and for wearing "unflattering" mom jeans. "The fact that I was famous last year for gaining 10 pounds is ridiculous and really said," Simpson has said. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average American woman wears a size fourteen. Simpson was a size four in the photo she was considered grossly overweight in. "Jessica Simpson is becoming part of this trend we call body-bullying," People magazine editor Galina Espinoza said on NBC'S Today show that "People are cruelly mocking her, making her feel like there is something wrong with her just because she has a slightly fuller figure. "It's something that's going on increasingly in Hollywood."
